About conference

The Food Security Conference 2024 comes at a critical time as Malaysia continues to face pressing food security challenges. These challenges are marked by uneven resource access, fluctuating agricultural yields, and increased vulnerability to external factors. While Malaysia has seen slight improvements in its Global Food Security Index ranking, moving from 43rd in 2020 to 41st following the Covid-19 pandemic, there remains much to be addressed to ensure sustainable food security for all.

Recognizing the complexity of food security, which encompasses the dimensions of availability, accessibility, utilization, and stability as defined by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, this conference seeks to create a platform for meaningful discussions and learning. Hosted by the Community Farming Unit and the Center for Social Inclusion Unit, the conference will bring together key stakeholders from diverse sectors. The goal is to forge resilient strategies and policy delivery systems that are tailored to the unique context of Malaysia.

By focusing on these critical areas, the Food Security Conference 2024 aims to drive the development of innovative and sustainable solutions, strengthen policy frameworks, and facilitate cross-sector collaborations that will contribute to a more secure food future for Malaysia.
