SOLUTION PROJECT 1

project description

“I Wear Pink” Breast Cancer Awareness Month was held to provide awareness to cancer patients around Tawau on how to get early detection of cancer and professional screening, rather than practising traditional methods to cure cancer.

This project solution aims to give awareness to 20 participants around Kg Inderasabah, Kg Serudung Baru and Jalan Damai. This project aims to empower husbands in the context of their role in the early detection of their spouses’ breast cancer and to support his wife with breast cancer. Next, this project helps to provide awareness to convey accurate information to the community to be more sensitive to early detection of breast cancer, debunking myths and cultural practices that can lead to late presentations.

The solution provider of this project solution funded by APPGM-SDG is Kinabalu Pink Ribbon. The project duration is around one month with an allocation of RM5,000.00.

The main SDGs impacted through this project solution are Goal 3 – Good Health and Well-being for all at all ages, Goal 4 – Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all and Goal 17 – Partnership for the goals.

SOLUTION PROJECT 2

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The villagers in Kampung Serudung Baru and Kampung Jati Batu 5, Tawau were advised to attend workshops and disaster training due to the inclining number of safety and security issues around the community.

Thus, this project aims to strengthen the local community’s preparedness and response for safety and security issues by establishing a community task force for Safety and Well-Being at the village level by providing workshops, training and hands-on training related to disaster response skills, fire awareness, basic equipment for fire preparation and flood management.

This project solution will benefit villagers at Kampung Serudung Baru and Kampung Jati Batu 5, and Task Force- Head of Household, Youth, and Women.

This project will ensure that everyone in the community feels safe and has a sense of belonging. This project also cooperates with government authorities on a range of community and education-based prevention initiatives (crime, disaster response skills & fire management). Furthermore, rural communities’ preparedness and response to an emergency or natural disaster can be improved once the participants get the training. The participants will also be taught to have the proper and right equipment for safety and security, knowledge, and preparation.

The solution provider of this project is Persatuan Pengusaha Rekreasi Dan Hiburan Bahagian Tawau Sabah. The project duration is two months with an allocation of RM30,000.00.

The main SDGs impacted through this solution project are Goal 3 – Good health and wellbeing, Goal 11 – Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable, Goal 16 – Peace, justice and strong institutions and Goal 17 – Partnership for the goals.

SOLUTION PROJECT 3

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The youths in Kampung Rancangan Batu 22 are lacking of exposure to entrepreneurial skills and opportunities to generate a steady income. This leads to a high unemployment rate among youth.

Nadzri Enterprise is the founder of halal pau which is very popular in some areas around Kampung Rancangan Batu 22. Therefore, with the skills of making Pau from Nadzri Enterprise, they agreed to upgrade their permit to be a training center to help the local community, especially the youths in learning. hands-on skills of making pau, food preparation & hygiene, marketing and starting a business.

In addition, the program will expose the youth to the opportunity to sell Nadzri Enterprise pau products in mobile stalls and digital.

This project will benefit 10 participants belonging to 5 youths aged between 25 – 35 years for a digital marketing project and 5 youths aged 25 – 35 years for mobile stall project.

The project solution provider is Persatuan Pelancongan Dan Kebudayaan Tawau in collaboration with Nadzri Enterprise. The project duration is around two months with an allocation of RM20,000.

The main SDGs impacted through this project solution is Goal 1 – End poverty in all its forms everywhere, Goal 4 – Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, Goal 8 – Good Jobs and Economic Growth and Goal 17 – Strengthen implementation and revitalize global partnerships for sustainable development.

SOLUTION PROJECT 4

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The lacking system of garbage houses in several villages at Tawau has caused garbage to pile up everywhere. The proposed solution project is aimed to build an orderly garbage collection system for the residents in the community.

With the existence of an orderly and structured garbage collection system under the control of the respective village community, committees will make the villages involved as clean villages from garbage and the example of beyond the proportions of the local council.

This project solution will benefit 1200 Population for Kg. Stone Design 22, 700 Population for Kg. Teak Batu 5 Kinabutan and 2280 Population for Kg. Saddani Batu 2. The solution provider for this project solution funded by APPGM-SDG is Kelab Rekreasi Pemandu E-Hailing Maxim Tawau Sabah.

The duration of this project is two months with an allocation of RM40,000. The main SDGs impacted through this project solution are Goal 3 – Good Health, Goal 9 – Industry, Innovation, And Infrastructure, Goal 12 – Ensure Sustainable Consumption and Production Patterns and Goal 17 – Partnership for The Goals.

SOLUTION PROJECT 5

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

One of the issues in the Tawau Parliament is the group of women those are not actively involved in economic activities due to lack of high qualifications and skills, relatively far distance from the city, housework burden and stigma from the surrounding community.

This project solution aims to provide hands-on courses for the community in Tawau, Sabah. The beneficiaries of this project is at least 10 Participants among 5 – 6 single mothers (B40, do not have a permanent job, aged between 20-45 years) and 5 – 7 housewives (B40, do not have a permanent job, aged between 20-45 years).

Therefore, the program is based on two strategies, the first is to create a community learning center for the residents of Saddani village. With this center, various types of small -scale training can be implemented. Second, the program organizes hands-on courses for women to enhance women’s skills and knowledge in the field of entrepreneurship.

The program funded by APPGM-SDG aims to empower women in the field of entrepreneurship in an effort to increase equality through participation in the economy thereby strengthening resilience in terms of mental, health and economic sustainability. In addition, the learning center will also be fully utilized for training and community economic and social development activities that are not only limited to women, but open to youth, children, and others. The solution provider of this project is Kelab Permotoran Bersaudara Tawau (TBMC) Daerah. This program will take around two months with an allocation of RM25,000.
