SOLUTION PROJECT 1

Project description

A TVET Hands-On training course can assist Selangan Batu youth from B40 families in earning a living while also improving their economic and social development.

The solution project for the villagers in Bandar Kuching aims to help 20 youths to get new hands-on skills and encourage them to become entrepreneur by using their talents and skills to reduce poverty.

The solution project funded by the APPGM-SDG opens up opportunity and chances for the targeted youth to help them becoming entrepreneurs thus can reduce poverty in future. The knowledge and hands-on training provided by TVET course for 20 youths can help community to be able to utilize their skills.

The project is to benefit 20 youths especially B40 and retrenched youths from Selangan Batu community, Kampung Chawan and Kampung Kudei Dunggun community. The solution provider of this project is Persatuan Pemangkin Daya Masyarakat (ROSE). The project duration is four (4) months including paperwork (October 2020-February 2021) with an allocation of RM56,000.00.

The main SDGs impacted through this solution project is SDG 1: No Poverty.

The solution project for the villagers in Kg.Chawan, Bandar Kuching aims to empower the resident’s group, to mobilize their community, to take charge of and address their socio-economic needs.

The projects identified by community includes accessing government aid, health awareness and screening, education involving primary and secondary level, beading skills training for income generations, and gotong royong on improving drainage system and construction of plank walks to home.

This project covers all aspects in terms of educations and health awareness as well as skills training to generate income for better living.

The solution project funded by the APPGM-SDG opens up opportunity to the whole community of all ages to have a better living by increasing their knowledge and awareness towards health, educations, skills and chances to improvise on drainage system and other constructions.

The project is to 63 families in Kg.Chawan community. The solution provider of this project is Sarawak Dayah Iban Association Headquarters. The project duration is four (4) months from October 2020 to January 2021 with an allocation of RM40,000.00.

Social economic training and a chilli plantation project can empower the women of Kg Selangan Batu to be more entrepreneurial and self-sufficient.

Aim of this project is to provide an education workshop especially for women in the community since 30% of family leaders are run by women.

Thus, to uplift the socio-economic factors for Selangan Batu residents, this project proposes a 4-months workshop which include activities related to self-hygiene, fire alarm training, financial management, tuitions and social entrepreneurship and womens’ wellbeing.

By conducting the workshop, this opens up opportunity for women to be more enterprise and more independent as well as by providing tuitions, their children will be more motivated to study harder.

The project aims to benefit women since more than 30% are women lead family. Also, 1st pilot project with community (group of 5) to chili plantation. The solution provider of this project is Persatuan Pemangkin Daya Masyarakat (ROSE). The project duration is four (4) months with an allocation of RM28,000.00.

Project description

The solution project for the villagers in Kampung Chawan, Bandar Kuching, Sarawak aims to strengthen the fundamental aspect and needs in the handicraft making in modern entrepreneurship and technology. The participants are in dire needs of basic machineries as part and parcel of the chosen industry for sustainability.

This project is called as the NGAYAM project which is based on handicraft products. The participants are majorly inclusive of housewives and single mother who depends on their brother, husband or grandparents which is barely enough to provide food for their families. School children is being regarded as a secondary consideration due to extreme poverty issues.

The goal is to rescue the neglected, jobless, illiterate and semi-skill social populace in this community especially women folks and housewives to be financially independent by crafting and selling quality handicraft at local market and also overseas market under the guidance and promotion of Sarawak Craft Council.

The project is to benefit 15 women folks (Chawan cluster) from village who had continually active participants in handicraft trainings.

The solution provider of this project is Nicholas Mujah Anak Ason and Rukieth Anak Jampong. The project duration is three months with an allocation of RM25,000.00.

The main SDGs impacted through this solution project is SDG 1: End poverty in all its form everywhere.

The solution project for the community in Kampung Chawan Pendam, Bandar Kuching, Sarawak aims to provides facilities for students and encourage them to receive a continuous equitable quality education.

The project introduces two interventions which to provide sustainable supplementary to increase family income and to resolve youngsters’ drop out.

The key issues found in this community was foods and basic necessities for household is a barely satisfactory.

The solution project funded by the APPGM-SDG will open up brighter opportunities for these underprivileged students to chart their own future. Next, women participant will get trainings and chances to upgrade their skill to a standard approved by Sarawak Craft Council. They will be able to achieve and sustain extra income for better life.

The project activities are divided into two sections. The first activity is a home-based industry which is called handicraft entrepreneurship. This project target unemployed women to learn crafting and generate them as a substantial income. The second activity of this program covers education scope by providing tuition which specifically tailored based on the current performance and needs of the participants.

The project is to benefit under privileged students and women folks from the community. The solution provider of this project is Sarawak Dayak Iban Association (SADIA.HQ). The project duration is six months with an allocation of RM25,000.00.

The main SDGs impacted through this solution project are SDG 1: End poverty in all its form everywhere and SDG 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all.
