It was a bright and cheerful Saturday morning of 25 th October when the APPGM-SDG team paid a courtesy visit to Yang Berhormat Nik Muhammad Zawawi, Member of Parliament for Pasir Puteh. The visit aimed to strengthen working relationships and foster closer collaboration in advancing the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the constituency.
As part of its ongoing efforts, APPGM-SDG regularly engages with Members of Parliament from both ruling and opposition parties to align local solutions with national objectives, emphasizing inclusive development and community empowerment.
During the meeting, YB Nik Muhammad Zawawi shared his perspective on leadership and public service, expressing that his work is guided by faith and moral responsibility. “I serve my people with the fear of God,” he said. “It is my duty to serve with a heart of servanthood, integrity, sincerity, and compassion—especially toward the vulnerable communities.”
He underscored that all elected representatives are bound by an obligation to serve the people selflessly, emphasizing holiness and the fear of God as the cornerstone of his public service.
We were struck by the warm and inviting atmosphere of his service centre. The space was well-kept, welcoming, and notably free of any political party insignia—reflecting his commitment to serving all constituents, regardless of political affiliation. This unique approach, focused purely on community service, stood out as a model worth emulating. During the visit, the APPGM-SDG team presented the Pasir Puteh Mapping Report and held a brief discussion on local issues and development initiatives. We later visited two ground rojects funded by APPGM-SDG, accompanied by YB Nik himself.
His hospitality and genuine interest in the APPGM-SDG work left a lasting impression. efore our departure, YB Nik presented us with local products and souvenirs as a token of apreciation and partnership—a gesture that reflected his sincerity and warmth.
The meeting and visits not only strengthened ties between the APPGM-SDG and the Pasir uteh parliamentary office but also highlighted how faith-driven leadership and community- ocused initiatives can go hand in and to promote sustainable, people-centered development. The visit was conducted by Prof Datuk Denison Jayasooria, James Ryan Raj, and Ms. Syahida, the local coordinator for Parliament Tumpat.
