APPGM-SDG

In 2023, the Ministry of Finance of Malaysia mandated the APPGM-SDG to take on a significant responsibility in implementing a community garden initiative. This initiative is a comprehensive intervention between the APPGM-SDG and grassroots organizations to address food security issues.

The Community Garden Unit has also provided funding to local communities to carry out community garden projects through small grants worth no more than RM40,000 for each project.

To establish and scale up community farm projects, creating sustainable food production, income generation, and a strong business network to meet local market demand while empowering and building the capacity of local farmers.

"The community farming initiative achieved significant success when a total of 198 projects were successfully implemented, involving 2,153 participants in 2023."

GREENING SEKICHAN PROJECT

The solution partner for this project is LAILAZIM DECO & NURSERY, Selangor. This is a food forest project at SMKJ Yoke Kuan, aiming to plant 1,750 trees (herbs, edible palm trees, and fruit trees) in the school area. It is aligned with the goals of promoting sustainable agriculture, environmental education, and community involvement (PIBG, students, SEED MALAYSIA). The project incorporates the use of bokashi composting methods into food forest management practices. Neem and chili are used as organic pesticides.
