Green Technology Policy, Climate Change Policy and The National Physical Plan as well as the 5 – year Malaysia Plan, community parks in the form of urban agriculture were introduced and extended to the community in Kuala Lumpur. LAZ1 KL plays a role as a facilitator and liaison between the local community with government as well as private agencies in developing community gardens in various areas in Kuala Lumpur.
This project has few objectives which are the first one is on circular economy aspect. This project ensures the community to be involved with comprehensive recycling activities for ensure ancillary funds are obtained for the sustainability of the garden project.
Next, this project covers for food security aspect. This is to ensure the community follows the method of sustainable agriculture (Permaculture) to ensure proper gardening methods are practiced in line with the National Food Security Agenda.
The solution project funded by the APPGM-SDG will create and enhance roles and social relationships and can help to increase side income for families in between communities through urban agricultural activity programs called ‘urban farming’.
The project is to benefit residents association, community under Department / Agency / NGO, Education (college/ university/ school), 20 male, 20 female and 10 youth.
The solution provider of this project is Badan Amal Dan Kebajikan PPR Seri Cempaka. The project duration is six months with an allocation of RM30,000.00.
The main SDGs impacted through this solution project are Goal 3 – Good Health and Well-Being and Goal 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth.
