Ten (10) people from the low-income neighbourhood in Selayang, including both B40 Malaysians and refugees, will benefit from recycling activities and waste management through Beyond Bin Recycle Project.
The solution project for the community in Selayang aims to bring in solutions for recycling and managing waste. This project strives for a sustainable and circular economy by giving waste a newfound value while promoting alternative sources of income to underprivileged communities.
The idea of this project is to tackle the burgeoning plastic waste problem through innovative and self-sustaining solutions for the community by introducing small scale plastic recycling or micro recycling. These 8 days of training will instil a mindset shift in the communities engaged while transforming plastic waste into recycled products.
After this project, participants will be able to practice the lesson learnt, share the knowledge of sustainability and continue to have an alternate income by using the machine and platform prepared at its training centre.
The solution provider of this project is Pertubuhan Perkhidmatan Sosial dan Pembangunan Komuniti Daerah Gombak, Selangor (PSPK). The project duration is five months with an allocation of RM14,080.00.
The main SDGs impacted through this solution project are Goal 1 – End Poverty, Goal 4 – Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all, Goal 8 – Promote Sustained, Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Growth for all, Goal 10 – Reduce Inequality, Goal 12 – Ensure Sustainable Consumption and Production Patterns and Goal 17 – Strengthen Partnership for Sustainable Development.
