SOLUTION PROJECT 1

Project description

The solution project for the residents in Taman Selayang Makmur in Selayang aims to improve the living condition of the community through waste management and potholes repairs. This can be achieved by providing a clean environment for the residents, ensure the right and adequate services are provided to the residents. For example, leach bins can be installed in the affected areas.

The solution project funded by the APPGM-SDG increase awareness and promote better practice among residents – hence manage their waste better via throwing the rubbish in the bin.

The project is to benefit all residents of Taman Selayang Makmur regardless of gender and age. The project activities include communication with the local agencies to increase the garbage collection routine, increasing garbage pickup days from 3 to 5 times in a week at Makmur flats, installing the leach bin storage (brick walls) at Blok A, B and C Makmur Flats, repair potholes in blocks roadside, walls painting surrounding the A, B, C Blocks at Makmur Flat and clean the surrounding areas of the flats.

The solution provider of this project is Pengurusan Taman Selayang Makmur. The project duration is one (1) month in between 1st to 30th September 2020 with an allocation of RM12,000.00.

SOLUTION PROJECT 2

Project description

The solution project for the residents in Selayang Baru aims to empower women to be self-reliant through rigorous hands-on training in bakery, confectionary and barista learning. By joining this project, the employability can be enhanced and self-qualification can be improved to self-operate identified cafe. The most important goal is to uplift B40 women in community to be self-sustainable.

The solution project funded by the APPGM-SDG strengthen women’s ability to not only confidently learn the lifelong skill but also to encourage them to work in the market place and earn a dignified living for themselves and their household.

The project is to benefit 10 women from the community. Activities provided involving developing skills and hands-on training, which will expose the participant to the business operation inclusive with soft launching. The solution provider of this project is Pertubuhan Perkhidmatan Sosial dan Pembangunan Komuniti Daerah Gombak, Selangor (PSPK). The project duration is four (4) months from September 2020 to December 2020 with an allocation of RM21,200.00.

SOLUTION PROJECT 3

Project description

The solution project for the residents in Selayang Baru aims to train 15 risk youth to build trained human capital among them, build entrepreneurship values and to expose high-income generating industries to B40 community in Selayang Baru.

This project focus on air-conditioning training to earn employment or micro-enterprising opportunities. By joining this program, risk youth can use their skills to generate income by joining via full time employment or enterprising initiatives.

The solution project funded by the APPGM-SDG widens and diversifies opportunities to risk youth so that they can use their skills to generate income by joining via full time employment or enterprising initiatives.

The project is to benefit 15 youth at risk in Selayang Baru. The solution provider of this project is MySkills Foundation. The project duration is around three months with five days training with an allocation of RM24,450.00. The module proposed in this project covers basic skills competencies in safety, air conditioning and micro-enterprising.

SOLUTION PROJECT 4

Project description

Skill Fair Exhibition hopes to assist school dropouts and at-risk youth in Selayang Baru.

The solution project funded by the APPGM-SDG provides opportunities for youth from the age of 13 to 19 to polish their skills training. This exhibition exposes high income generating industries to B40 community and to provide alternative career pathway for school dropouts.

In these 2 days program, youth will be exposed to the importance of skills training and will be train on how to improve positive character formation for sustainable human capital.

The project is to benefit 50 youth from range 13 to 19 years old in Selayang Baru. These 2 days exhibition will open up chances for the risk youth to enroll their selves into a full-time skills training and the potential candidates will have the opportunities to be promoted to a matching job suit with their skills and with their relevant qualifications. The solution provider of this project is MySkills Foundation. The project duration is two days with an allocation of RM5,000.00.

Project description

The solution project for the residents in Selayang Baru aims to encourage trained 10 B40 women in the community to be able to manage the cafe; a social enterprise in Selayang Baru.

This project will help the participants to be equipped with entrepreneurial and soft skills to be self-reliant. The employability opportunities to manage identified cafe also will be provided and the most important part is to be able to uplift B40 women in this community to be self-sustainable.

The solution project funded by the APPGM-SDG will strengthen the women’s ability in entrepreneurship and take the ownership of social enterprise.

The project is to benefit 10 trained B40 women from the community. The 6-days workshop’s module will be focusing on production knowledge, pricing strategy, marketing and strategic place to sustain in market. The solution provider of this project is Pertubuhan Perkhidmatan Sosial dan Pembangunan Komuniti. The project duration is four (4) months from September 2020 to December 2020 with an allocation of RM14,000.00.

SOLUTION PROJECT 6

Project description

The solution project for the refugees in Selayang Baru aims to improve communication skills and self-esteem among the refugees in the community. Candidates will be provided with 10 days training of basic Malay spoken language and basic education of Malaysian cultural sensitivity. This project also aims to impart the understanding of cultural sensitivity for better livelihood.

By understanding the basic communication skills and cultural sensitivity, the participants will have a better understanding towards other thus, they can express themselves and their needs.

The solution project funded by the APPGM-SDG will enhance their learning ability and will give them chances for better job opportunities in their livelihood.

The project is to benefit 15 refugees with UNHCR card holders / migrant workers in Selayang Baru. The solution provider of this project is Pertubuhan Perkhidmatan Sosial dan Pembangunan Komuniti. The project duration is two (2) months from September 2020 to October 2020 with an allocation of RM9,350.00.

SOLUTION PROJECT 7

Project description

The solution project for the residents in Taman Selayang Makmur Flats aims to document a complete data of the Makmur Flats resident with post-covid livelihood information.

From the data collection, a list of future programs and projects can be created based on the identifications of issues and needs to the community. Almost 280 houses in Taman Selayang Makmur Flat will benefit from data collection through the Housing Census program.

The documentation of data collection that contain issues and needs will produce the result of census and will be able to capture the demographic and their socio-economic situation.

The project is to benefit residents in Taman Selayang Makmur Flats. The solution provider of this project is Pertubuhan Perkhidmatan Sosial dan Pembangunan Komuniti with collaboration of RCE Greater Gombak, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and JMB. The project duration is eight (8) weeks (September and October 2020) with an allocation of RM19,000.00.

SOLUTION PROJECT 8

Project description

Air Conditioner Skill Training for Youths program targets to develop entrepreneurship skills and values among ten (10) at-risk youth in Selayang.

Therefore, PSPK collaborates with the MySkills Foundation in providing youths with a better chance at in-life training in vocational skills. For this project, MySkill Foundation would be conducting an air-conditioner repair short course for the youth living in Selayang to expose them to the different industries to earn a decent income and lead a better life.

The solution project funded by the APPGM-SDG can help the youths to acquire employable skills and to train them to build entrepreneurship values and skills. This will lead and expose B40 communities to high-income generating industries.

The solution provider of this project is Pertubuhan Perkhidmatan Sosial Dan Pembangunan Komuniti Daerah Gombak, Selangor (PSPK). The project duration is five months with an allocation of RM16,770.00.

The main SDGs impacted through this solution project are Goal 4 – Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all, Goal 8 – Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth for all, Goal 10 – Reduce inequality and Goal 17 – Strengthen partnership for sustainable development.

Project description

After the pandemic of Covid-19, many have lost their jobs, are unable to find new jobs, low or no income for their survival live. Therefore, in women from B40 communities and an economically distressed communities would be trained in bakery, barista and entrepreneurship.

This training program funded by the APPGM-SDG will strengthen the women’s ability to not only confidently learn lifelong skills but also to help them compete in the marketplace and earn a dignified living for themselves and their household as a sustainability model.

The training covers the scope for proposal preparation, project preparation for physical requirements, project execution, monitoring and evaluation.

The solution provider of this project is Pertubuhan Perkhidmatan Sosial dan Pembangunan Komuniti Daerah Gombak, Selangor (PSPK). The project duration is five months with an allocation of RM19,150.00.

The main SDGs impacted through this solution project are Goal 1 – End poverty, Goal 4 – Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all, Goal 5 – Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls, Goal 8 – Promote Sustained, Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Growth for all, Goal 10 – Reduce Inequality and Goal 17 – Strengthen Partnership for Sustainable Development.

SOLUTION PROJECT 10

Project description

Ten (10) people from the low-income neighbourhood in Selayang, including both B40 Malaysians and refugees, will benefit from recycling activities and waste management through Beyond Bin Recycle Project.

The solution project for the community in Selayang aims to bring in solutions for recycling and managing waste. This project strives for a sustainable and circular economy by giving waste a newfound value while promoting alternative sources of income to underprivileged communities.

The idea of this project is to tackle the burgeoning plastic waste problem through innovative and self-sustaining solutions for the community by introducing small scale plastic recycling or micro recycling. These 8 days of training will instil a mindset shift in the communities engaged while transforming plastic waste into recycled products.

After this project, participants will be able to practice the lesson learnt, share the knowledge of sustainability and continue to have an alternate income by using the machine and platform prepared at its training centre.

The solution provider of this project is Pertubuhan Perkhidmatan Sosial dan Pembangunan Komuniti Daerah Gombak, Selangor (PSPK). The project duration is five months with an allocation of RM14,080.00.
