SOLUTION PROJECT 1

project description

The issue of citizenship and ‘stateteless’ children is a big problem in Simpang Renggam which results in students dropping out and not going to school. To help address this issue, the proposed project will create a free school to provide appropriate education and learning to selected stateless children aged between 7-18 so that they acquire knowledge, basic skills and build character and identity.

The project solution funded by APPGM-SDG will benefit 15 undocumented children (Age 7-18 years) and also their parents.

The project is organized with the aim of ensuring that undocumented children and their parents accept and are aware of the importance of education despite being marginalized due to documentation problems. Through this program, children will receive education and learning appropriate to their age and level. The impact on parents is that they can understand their role and its influence on children’s learning as well as know the appropriate techniques and ways in overcome children’s learning problems and improve their personality.

The solution provider of this project are Pertubuhan Kebajikan Adiwarna Johor and Sekolah Rakyat Parlimen Simpang Renggam P151. The project duration is five months with an allocation of RM44,525.00.

The main SDGs impacted through this solution project Goal 4 – Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all, Goal 8 – Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all, Goal 10 – Reduce inequality within and among countries and Goal 16 – Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.

SOLUTION PROJECT 2

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

In Simpang Renggam, there is no specialized centre that teaches practical entrepreneurial skills to increase self-sufficiency and reduce dependence on welfare assistance and handouts. Community incomes have also been affected by the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Therefore, this project will address the issue by producing local entrepreneurs to improve the living standards of the local community. This project will provide business and entrepreneurial skills training based on local strengths to local residents, including women in the Ulu Benut area, Simpang Renggam. In addition, the project will also beautify the shores of Sg. Ulu Benut is a recreational area to attract visitors and create an attractive business atmosphere. The surrounding population is among the B40, of which 80% of the 100 female population are housewives (aged 30-65 years) and school leavers who are approximately 22 people. They have the potential and can benefit from this program.

The surrounding population will maximize the development that will be built in this economic program. The development project will see the development of business knowledge among the community, and beautified environmental areas, including the creation of iconic venues and the construction of business facilities such as stalls and kiosks. The solution provider of this project are Koperasi Keluarga Montamah Paiman Johor Berhad and Koperasi Komuniti Kampung Ulu Benut Berhad. The project duration is five months with an allocation of RM40,000.00.

The main SDGs impacted through this solution project are Goal 1 – End poverty in all its form everywhere, Goal 4 – Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all, Goal 5 – Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls, Goal 8 – Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all, Goal 10 – Reduce inequality within and among countries and Goal 11 – Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.

SOLUTION PROJECT 3

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project solution called as ‘coalition of NGOs’ in Simpang Ringgam is a pooling of resources among NGOs and streamlining welfare allocations to ensure it reaches to right targeting group or individuals.

Few activities will be conducted in this project solution funded by APPGM-SDG. First is project NGO Lions Clubs; this project aims for drug addiction campaign. Suitable qualified multi-language anti-drug speaker will be identified and finalized during this program. Other activities also include OKU center and aid assistance and also donations for affected family due to Covid-19 Pandemic.

This NGO coalition will be the main platform for the coalition or platform in Simpang Renggam for networking, joint ventures, implementation of activities and liaison with stakeholders; contributed to the production of government policy in Simpang Renggam.

This project solution will benefit Joint CSO in Simpang Renggam, 3 NGO’s (Adiwarna, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Jati Simpang Renggam, Lions Club, Lions Club – Self-awareness of danger of drug among youths in Simpang Rengam areas, ADIWARNA – 40 OKU in Simpang Renggam and their family and AJSR – 200 affected family due to Pandemic Covid.

The solution provider of this project is Pertubuhan Kebajikan Adiwarna Johor, Pertubuhan Anak Jati Simpang Renggam and Lions Club of Simpang Renggam. The project duration is five months with an allocation of RM34,025.00.

The main SDGs impacted through this solution project are Goal 1 – End poverty in all its form everywhere, Goal 3 – Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages, Goal 10 – Reduce inequality within and among countries and Goal 17 – Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
