SOLUTION PROJECT 1

Project description

The solution project for the villagers in Kampung Sapulut, Kampung Pagalungan and Pekan Nabawan, Pensiangan aims to empower the community through involvement to overcome the problem of violence against women and children. The project also emphasizes on health care and healthy lifestyles.

This will be able to strengthen the social resilience of communities so that communities have the right to access to the best health and healthy social life.

The workshops and guides organized can provide awareness to the community on several important elements such as women’s law and rights, awareness on domestic violence and health awareness on sustainable health development.

The project involves communities in three targeted villages and around P182 areas, especially for women, children, youth, leaders, ketua kampung and MPKK. The project activities are based on talks, guidance and skills training. The solution provider of this project is Sabah Women’s Action Resource Group (SAWO). The project duration is seven (7) months from June to December 2020 with an allocation of RM40,650.00.

With this approach, the problem of violence or matters that violate the human rights of women and children can be avoided in the future.

SOLUTION PROJECT 2

Project description

The solution project for the villagers in Mukim Lanas, Kampung Sinaron, Kampung Mansiat and Kampung Batu Lunguyan in Pensiangan aims to generate income, livelihood and developing a sustainable future. The main target, namely the youths will be exposed to skills and training for them to explore the potential of recycling (upcycling) and hydroponic farming methods using used goods to be used as a source of income and build a sustainable future.

The solution project funded by the APPGM-SDG aims to raise awareness of the importance of environmental care and waste management in order to maintain a sustainable environment.

The targeted beneficiaries are communities in 15 target villages and nearby villages in the P18 area, especially youths in the P182 target district, community leaders, village heads and MPKK. The solution provider of this project is Kelab Belia Kampung Sinaron (KBKS) with collaborations of Bestprestige Educare Malaysia (BPEM). The project duration is six months from June to November 2020 with an allocation of RM60,000.00.

With the implementation of this project, it is hopefully to change the new culture in managing the environment and create an entrepreneurial nature among the youths.

SOLUTION PROJECT 3

Project description

The solution project for the community in Kampung Sinaron, Kampung Mansiat and Keningau Town in Pensiangan aims to generate income, livelihood and developing human capital through entrepreneurship workshop.

The Workshop on Enhancing Women’s Entrepreneurship aimed to ensure that women will take benefit from economy and none will be left behind. Women empowerment through entrepreneurship training might become a solution in upgrading women skills and knowledge so that their participation rate in the economy increased.

This project provides two entrepreneurship workshops; modules cover aspects of rural entrepreneurship, financial and digital literacy, business plan proposal and financial aids training.

The project is to benefit women from B40 group in the community. The solution provider of this project is University College Sabah Foundation, Kota Kinabalu. The project duration is five months with an allocation of RM20,000.00.

Parties involved in this project; government officials, academics, researchers and women entrepreneurs are expected to involve actively in the future workshop.

SOLUTION PROJECT 4

Project description

During this Covid-19 pandemic, rural women in Sabah are facing a severe economic predicament due to several factors which include remoteness, inadequate amenities, lack of resources and capital, and also market obstacles.

To overcome this problem, one possible solution project needed is social entrepreneurship as an alternative. This project will help provide equity funds, and human and social networks, thus enabling women to pursue and enhance their skills.

This project funded by APPGM will operate on idle lands in the villages and turn these into herbal gardens due to the abundant plants and herbs in the areas. The participants will be trained using environmental-friendly methods of herbal planting and also will be taught technic to replant the herbal plants so as to sustain their supplies.

The project is to benefit women from the B40 group (5 persons from each village; single mothers, unemployed youth, female farmers and local female leaders) in the selected villages in Pensiangan, Sabah.

The solution provider of this project is the Institute Borneo Studies (IBS), UCSF and Sabah Women Entrepreneurs of Excellence (SAWENA). The project duration is seven (7) months from July 2021 to January 2022 with an allocation of RM25,000.00.

The main SDGs impacted through this solution project is Goal 1 – End poverty in all its form everywhere, Goal 4 – Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all, Goal 5 – Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls, Goal 8 – Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all and Goal 10 – Reducing inequalities within and among countries.

SOLUTION PROJECT 5

Project description

Sustainable Development Goal Awareness Workshops were proposed in Pekan Nabawan and Kampung Saliku to foster awareness of gender equality and good health.

The project solution that will be implemented is a series of projects that were carried out from July to December last year. The project focus on five (5) SDG Sustainable Development Goal Awareness Workshops in several villages. The participants were taught about awareness regarding SDG3 Gender Equality and SDG5 Good Health and Wellness.

The project that will be implemented is also an awareness workshop in other villages including Pekan Nabawan and Kampung Saliku. The project covers several scopes, such as training materials, guidelines for dealing with terrorism cases and also project reports.

The project is to benefit communities in the two (2) targeted villages and communities in nearby villages in the P128 area. A total of 60 people, especially women and youth in P128 target areas and community leaders, village heads, and MPKK.

The solution provider of this project is Kumpuan Daya Tindakan Wanita Sabah (SAWO). The project duration is four (4) months with an allocation of RM29,350.00 / RM26,000.00.

The main SDGs impacted through this solution project are Goal 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, and Goal 5 – Gender Equality.
